Cloud-Bearing Mountain is an Orthodox Christian spiritual retreat center located in the Catskill Mountains of New York State. We are easily accessed from the New York City / New Jersey metropolitan area, as well as from Albany, Binghamton, northeastern Pennsylvania, Vermont, Massachusetts, and Connecticut. We provide a structured and quiet environment for the practice of contemplative or noetic prayer (Christian meditation). Silent, directed residential retreats form the heart of our programming. We also offer other retreat programs, classes, and liturgical services. Rooted in the fullness of the ancient Orthodox Catholic faith, our programs are open to all, regardless of ecclesial background.
Our retreat programs are intended for regular people who have to navigate the daily concerns of home, family, work, and life in this world while desiring to develop or reinvigorate a discipline of deep prayer and authentic growth in the Christian life. Our retreats are best suited for people who desire genuine spiritual awakening through sincere repentance according to the pattern of the Gospel, guidance and training in the Christian life as classically understood and practiced, and dedicated time for prayer apart from worldly distractions.
Situated on the banks of the babbling Mountain Brook on 12 bucolic acres in New York’s northwestern Catskill Mountains, our peaceful grounds provide the perfect setting for this most important work.
